Recognition for Northwest Solar Communities

Making solar simple, fast, and cost-effective

Who can be recognized?
Authorities having local jurisdiction over solar permitting (Cities, counties). See our 2015 recipients.

How will they be recognized?
The Governors of Oregon and Washington will issue a proclamation recognizing the Northwest Solar Communities in each state. Recognized jurisdictions may use the Northwest Solar Communities logo in their promotional materials.

What’s required?

  1. Submit a cover letter of support from the City or County. (Here’s a Sample Letter)
  2. Include solar energy strategies or goals in your Jurisdiction’s comprehensive plan or climate action plan.
  3. Create a jurisdiction web page to provide guidance on the solar permit process. Example.
  4. Complete the Recognition Application which includes the permitting best practices questionnaire. More information on best practices can be found on the Permitting page.
