Northwest Sustainable Energy for Economic Development
Northwest SEED, founded in 2001, is a regional nonprofit focused on empowering community-scale clean energy solutions. Northwest SEED has a decade of experience providing technical assistance and a proven track record of creating public-private partnerships to address market barriers to the widespread deployment of clean energy projects.
Northwest SEED has a long history of leading transformative projects that bring together diverse jurisdictions, utilities, and industry stakeholders to increase the adoption of renewable energy. Accomplishments include partnering with Seattle City Light to design an award-winning Community Solar program, adding over 1.5 MW of solar energy capacity through seven “Solarize” group purchase campaigns, and authoring two guidebooks for the U.S. Department of Energy (A Guide to Community Shared Solar: Utility, Private and Non-profit Project Development and The Solarize Guidebook: A community guide to collective purchasing of residential PV systems).
Northwest SEED is the project manager for the Northwest Solar Communities effort, and sits on the steering committee.
